ROUNDUP: Pumphrey paces Canyon Springs boys to victory over Vikings

Canyon Springs’ Donnel Pumphrey won the 100- and 200-meter dashes on Thursday to lead the Pioneers to a 74-58 victory over visiting Valley.

Pumphrey ran the 100 in 10.7 seconds, and won the 200 in 22.5.

Valley’s Brian Nash won the 110 hurdles (17.0) and 300 hurdles (44.1). Kennedy Williams took the high jump (6 feet, 2 inches) and triple jump (43-10½) for Valley. Dawit Tesfa won the 800 (2:13.7) and 1,600 (5:14.3) for the Vikings.

Davis, Wright lead Jaguars by Moapa Valley
At Desert Pines, Malik Davis and Donovin Wright each won two events to lead the Jaguars to a 70-54 win over Moapa Valley.

Davis won the 200 in 23.8 and had a distance of 17-8½ in the long jump. Wright won the high jump (5-10) and triple jump (38-1¼).

Moapa Valley’s Kyler Leavitt won the shot put (37-3½) and discus (112-3).

Nelson, Gators hurdle Silverado
At Green Valley, Matt Nelson won the 110 hurdles in 16.49 and the 300 hurdles in 41.41 to lead the Gators to an 87-59 win over Silverado.

Jonathan Aman won the 400 in 52.39 and the 800 in 2:04.61 for the Skyhawks, and teammate Vernon Jackson won the 200 (23.62) and the long jump (20-6½).

Williamson, Dragons edge Sundevils
At Del Sol, Aaron Williamson won the 200 and triple jump to lead the Dragons to a 74-71 win over Eldorado.

Williamson took the 200 in 23.4, and won the triple jump with a mark of 43-3¾.

Eldorado’s Ta’Varea Shelton was first in the 110 hurdles (11.3), 300 hurdles (46.3) and 400 (56.4).

Basic, Liberty tie
At Basic, the Wolves and Liberty finished tied at 73.
Liberty’s Martin Ponce won the 1,600 (5:05.9) and 3,200 (no time reported), and teammate Reno Tu’ufuli took the shot put (53-1) and discus (147-10).

Basic’s Kailan Jones won the 200 (23.1) and 400 (52.3), and Elijah Shull Shaif was first in the 100 (10.9) and 200 (23.1) for the Wolves.
