VOLLEYBALL: Liang, Mountain Lions edge Trailblazers

Kelvin Liang had nine kills, 22 digs and three aces Wednesday to help Sierra Vista’s boys volleyball team rally for a 20-25, 25-14, 23-25, 25-23, 15-5 win at Durango.

Diego Gutierrez had 16 kills, and Jordan Kirtley added 31 digs for the Mountain Lions.

Pedro Abrego had 13 kills and five digs, and Jimmy Cullors supplied 14 digs and three aces for the Trailblazers. Andre Shabazz had 20 assists, and Isiah Favela added five kills and three blocks for Durango.

Green Valley 3, Valley 1 — At Green Valley, Zachary Hewitt had 13 kills and five digs as the Gators defeated the Vikings, 25-17, 25-22, 20-25, 25-21.

Arvin Nitollama had 37 assists and five blocks, Kyle Accardy had six digs, and teammate Brian Ellington recorded three kills and six blocks for the Gators.

Jack Heavey led the Vikings with 22 kills, and teammate Alex Sandoval had 36 assists and five digs. David Delaney added 16 digs for Valley, which got 12 kills and four digs from Matt Ballaro.

Chaparral 3, Tech 1 — At Tech, Pierce Morgan had 12 kills, 12 assists, 10 digs and five blocks as the Cowboys defeated the Roadrunners, 25-20, 25-22, 22-25, 25-23.

Armando Zarate had seven kills and 18 digs, and Meldrick Nava added six kills and three blocks for Chaparral.

Joshua Wood had five kills, five aces and 25 assists, and Tyler Gardenhire added 10 kills and 13 digs for Tech. Miguel Garcia had six kills, four blocks and 18 digs, and Brandon Finley supplied six kills and 10 digs for the Roadrunners.

Las Vegas 3, Canyon Springs 0 — At Las Vegas, Ronnel Sonson had five kills, seven aces and nine digs to help the Wildcats to a 25-4, 25-8, 25-15 win over the Pioneers.

Royce Reyes had 21 assists and two kills, and Mark Gil Gacutan and Tristan Gordon each added four kills and two blocks for Las Vegas.

Palo Verdo 3, Spring Valley 0 — At Palo Verde, Parker Nelson had seven kills to lead the Panthers to a 25-5, 25-6, 25-15 sweep of the Grizzlies.

Greg Kinney and Brigham Clawson each had five kills for the Panthers, and teammate Andrew Weston posted 30 assists.

Bradd Robison led the Grizzlies with five kills and two aces. Troy Lance added six blocks and three digs, and Nick Purser had six assists for Spring Valley.

Arbor View 3, Shadow Ridge 0 — At Arbor View, Darien Bradley recorded 17 kills to lead the Aggies to a 25-15, 25-21, 25-23 victory over the Mustangs.

Chris Heron had 46 assists, Sam Buckels had five kills and three blocks, and Peter Peck had 15 digs for the Aggies.

Silverado 3, Rancho 0 — At Rancho, Austin Hunt had 15 kills to lead the Skyhawks to a 25-20, 25-16, 25-19 sweep of the Rams.

Cody Steckel posted 31 assists, and Travis Houston had 10 digs for Silverado.

Aaron Robles had five kills and 13 assists, and teammate Lamont Traylor had nine kills and three blocks for the Rams.

Sunrise Mountain 3, Desert Pines 0 — At Sunrise Mountain, the Miners beat the Jaguars, 25-21, 25-22, 25-20.
