50-year-old man dies after his apartment catches fire

A 50-year-old man was killed in a fire in his Kingman, Ariz., apartment on Monday.

Fire Department spokesman Bill Johnston said James Vance suffered second- and third-degree burns over 95 percent of his body in the fire that was reported at 4:58 at 545 Rutherford St.

Johnston said it is believed that Vance was sitting or sleeping in a chair at the time.

It appears the fire was accidental but its cause remains under investigation, he said.
