The Falcons scored the final nine points of the game, capped by a 19-yard field goal from Ryan Harrison with 2:36 remaining. UNLV led 28-20 until a 44-yard touchdown reception by Kyle Halderman with 13:47 to play got Air Force within two.

Air Force opened up a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter on a touchdown pass from Tim Jefferson to Josh Cousins, but UNLV answered immediately on a scoring run by C.J. Cox. In between the UNLV touchdowns, Air Force had a 16-play drive that chewed up 6:31 and resulted in a field goal.
