Aircraft bound for San Francisco diverts to Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS -- An airport official say an aircraft bound from Miami to San Francisco made an emergency landing in Las Vegas after the pilot reported a smell of smoke in the cockpit.

McCarran International Airport spokesman Chris Jones says American Airlines flight 431 landed safely about 11:20 a.m. Friday with 165 passengers and crew members aboard.

Jones says there were no immediate reports of injuries and authorities were investigating the source of the odor aboard the Boeing 757 aircraft.
