KINGMAN, Ariz. -- A Kingman man who stabbed his mother 40 times and killed her was sentenced to 21 years in prison on a second-degree murder conviction Friday.
Robert Fisher, 33, was given 33/4 more years in prison for the aggravated assault of an arresting officer after the January 2006 slaying of Vivian Neal, 58.
Fisher claimed his behavior was controlled by aliens, witches and voices in his head, but a Mohave County jury rejected his insanity defense during a June trial.
The victim's husband told the court that the insanity claim was a ruse.
"He's just tried to weasel out of this with mental health issues and made a game out of this," Shannon Neal said. "He should rot in hell."
