Bank robbed in UNLV student union

A bank located within UNLV's student union was robbed Monday afternoon, a university spokesman said.

A man walked into a U.S. Bank branch on the first floor of the student union, at 4505 S. Maryland Parkway near Tropicana Avenue, about 4:20 p.m. and handed a teller a note demanding money, said Dave Tonelli, a University of Nevada, Las Vegas spokesman.

The note also said the man was armed but no one saw a weapon, Tonelli said.

The teller handed the man an unknown amount of cash. He took the money and fled toward Maryland Parkway. No one was injured during the robbery, Tonelli said.

Officers with UNLV's Department of Police Services are searching for the suspect along with the FBI and Las Vegas police, he said.
