Black bear killed by Nevada wildlife officials

RENO — A black bear with a rap sheet for breaking and entering has been killed by Nevada wildlife officials.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife said the 2-year-old male had broken into an Incline Village home at Lake Tahoe on Friday and Saturday nights and was apparently preparing to do so again Monday when a game warden tranquilized and then killed the bear.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reported that during the weekend break-ins, the bear was sprayed with bear spray but still returned to the same area Monday night, when it was observed trying to break into a truck at the same residence.

Officials said the bear was fearless of people and was euthanized on scene because it was a danger to humans.

It was the fourth nuisance bear killed by wildlife officials this year.
