Board OKs $2 million for aquatic complex

The Clark County School Board on Thursday approved a $2 million contribution for a swimming complex, the Heritage Aquatic Park, currently under construction in Henderson.

Clark County School District swim teams would be able to use the facility, which is set to open this summer on Racetrack Road near Burkholder Avenue.

The city of Henderson is paying for $14 million of the estimated $16 million cost for the indoor aquatic complex, which will have a competitive pool as well as a warm pool for therapeutic use.

During public comment, parent Kevinn Donovan questioned whether the district could give bond money to the project since voters originally approved such funding for school construction.

School Board members noted that the bond program has been expanded to include other projects.
