Boy in critical condition after crash; woman arrested on DUI charges

A 10-month-old boy was critically injured and a 41-year-old Las Vegas woman was arrested on drunken driving charges after a collision shortly after midnight on Nellis Boulevard near Sahara Avenue.

Claudia Zepeda, 38, of Las Vegas, was driving a 1999 Honda Accord south on Nellis when she was rear-ended by a 2003 Toyota Sequoia, police said.

Police said Vickie Duran, 41, was driving the Sequoia. After the Accord was rear-ended, it was sent in a southeast direction across the northbound lanes, police said.

Duran fled the scene but was detained by a witness, police said. She was arrested on felony DUI and hit and run charges.

The boy was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. His identity was not released and his condition was unknown tonight.
