Bush to visit LV for speech, fundraiser

President Bush is scheduled to visit Las Vegas later this week to give a speech about national security and headline a private Republican Party fundraiser.

Bush is to arrive Wednesday evening and spend the night, the White House said. On Thursday morning, he will make remarks on the war on terrorism to the Nevada Policy Research Institute, a local conservative think tank.

The president will give the midmorning speech at Emerald at Queensridge, an event facility on Rampart Boulevard near Alta Drive.

He then is scheduled to be the guest of honor at a brunch fundraiser for the Nevada Republican Party at a private residence in the Tournament Hills development in Summerlin, according to an invitation. Sources said the home was one belonging to Sands Corp. Chairman Sheldon Adelson.

The invitation doesn’t specify how large a donation is required to attend the affair, which is not open to the media.
