Candidates join city races

Term limits will keep Henderson City Councilman Jack Clark from defending the Ward 3 seat he has held since 1993. Now the race is on to replace him.

On Thursday, Kathleen Boutin filed her candidacy for Clark's seat. The former chairwoman of the Nevada Homeless Alliance will join retired insurance salesman Bruce Cutler on the primary election ballot.

Boutin is a lifelong resident of Southern Nevada who has lived in Henderson for the past 22 years. Cutler is a 17-year resident of Henderson in his first campaign for public office.

In North Las Vegas on Thursday, Anita Wood joined the race for City Council Ward 3. Angelo Carvalho and Michael Little already filed as candidates for the Ward 3 seat presently held by Stephanie Smith, who cannot run again because of term limits and is now a candidate for mayor.

The filing period for candidates in Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas runs through Feb. 6. In Boulder City, filing ends on Feb. 5.

The primary will be held April 7, with the general election to follow on June 2.
