Central valley crash sends at least 1 to hospital

A man went to the hospital with critical injuries Sunday morning after a crash in the central valley, Las Vegas police say.

Three cars were involved in the crash. Two of them, a Honda Civic and Hyundai Elantra, were speeding south on Rancho Drive, police said, when a Chevrolet pickup truck turned left from Turquoise Road onto Rancho Drive.

The Honda swerved to get out of the way but hit the back of the truck, spinning it off the road where it hit a block wall. It continued rotating and moved back into the road, where it was hit by the Hyundai and spun out the other direction into another wall.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Stephen Fillmore, was thrown from the truck’s side window during the crash and taken to University Medical Center with what police called critical injuries.
