Challenger drops out of Las Vegas council Ward 4 race

Dwayne Chesnut, who filed Friday as a candidate for Las Vegas City Council, has dropped out of the race, City Clerk Beverly Bridges reported Tuesday.

Chesnut, 77, is a retired chemical engineer and has never held office. He previously ran for regent in the Nevada System of Higher Education.

Chesnut filed in Ward 4 which is represented by Mayor Pro Tem Stavros Anthony, 56, who is running for re-election.

Journalist Frank Geary, 49, is also running for the Ward 4 seat.
