The Clark County Coroner’s office identified the man who was shot and killed by a SWAT officer after a standoff Sunday near Jean Airport.
Ronald Wayne Tate was 50 years old. The coroner’s office said Thursday morning that Tate died of gunshot wounds to the head and chest; his death was ruled a homicide.
Police responded Sunday to reports from the employees of a skydiving company who said a man in an RV had pointed a gun at them. Tate also pointed his gun at police who were forced to retreat and call SWAT.
Las Vegas police on Wednesday identified the officer who killed Tate as Charles Moser, who has worked at the Metropolitan Police Department since 2000. He was put on routine paid administrative for the course of the investigation.
This is Metro’s fourth officer-involved shooting this year.
