Controlled burn to bring smoke to wetlands

Dry brush near the Las Vegas Wash wetlands will be burned over the next three days, fire officials said today.

Crews from local and state fire agencies will be on hand to monitor the blaze, which could produce a lot of smoke.

The controlled burn of between five and eight acres of dry brush will be conducted today through Wednesday toward the far end of Hollywood Boulevard toward Lake Las Vegas where crews have formed controlled burn piles.

The Clark County Fire Department, Nevada Division of Forestry, and the Las Vegas Valley Water District have teamed up for the project.
