Coroner identifies man reported to have jumped from Stratosphere

The man believed to have jumped off the Stratosphere Wednesday afternoon has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.

New York resident Matthew Struebing, 31, was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the scene after Las Vegas police responded to reports that a man jumped from the 1,149-foot-tall tower about 12:45 p.m.

Stratosphere employees said there are fences surrounding the top of the Stratosphere, and Struebing would have had to plan the jump.

The coroner’s office has yet to release his official cause and manner of death.
