Police report details kisses-only relationship between teacher, student

The relationship between a Clark County School District teacher and her student — no more than 15 years old — was cut short by attentive parents, ending the budding relationship before it progressed past kissing, according to the arrest report of 24-year-old Amanda Brennan.

The mother realized something was awry when her son asked to go to a movie on Wednesday , but would only say it was with some friends she didn’t know. When her son left, the mother called the gated community’s security guard to request the name of the person admitted for her home address, according to the district’s school police arrest report released Monday.

She discovered that it was Brennan, an English teacher at Henderson’s Foothill High School. The parents then pulled their son’s cellphone records, discovering numerous calls to and from Brennan.

The parents met with school police the next day, and through a deeper records search found about 1,000 texts between the teacher and student in the last nine days. When confronted by police on Friday , the student said he and Brennan loved each other and had only kissed twice. The teacher said the same in a recorded interview with police, admitting that she knew the relationship was wrong but loved him.

Both acknowledged they were together without the parents’ permission or knowledge on two occasions in which Brennan drove the boy in her car.

Brennan, now on administrative leave from the district, was arrested Friday and faces two charges of luring a child to engage in a sex act and one charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

It’s illegal under state law to lure or transport children younger than 16 away from their home or parent if the difference in age is at least five years. Doing so with the intent to engage in sexual conduct is a felony that could lead to a minimum two years in prison . If intent isn’t proven, the actions are a misdemeanor.
