CARSON CITY -- Nevada's deputy prisons chief has been tapped for the highest budget post in the state.

Gov. Brian Sandoval on Monday appointed Jeff Mohlenkamp as director of the state's $6.2 billion budget.

Mohlenkamp replaces Department of Administration Director Andrew Clinger, who had been budget chief since 2005.

Clinger started a new job this week as Reno city manager.

Mohlenkamp previously served as chief financial officer for the Nevada state Mental Health Division. His new job starts July 11.
