Early voting begins Saturday for 2nd District election

It's election time for 2nd Congressional District candidates Mark Amodei and Kate Marshall.
Early voting in the special election opens today and runs through Sept. 9.
Election day is Sept. 13.
Amodei, former chairman for the Nevada Republican Party, served two years as an assemblyman and 12 years as a state senator before being termed out after the 2009 session.
Marshall, a Democrat, has served as state treasurer since 2006.
The other candidates are Timothy Fasano of the Independent American Party and independent Helmuth Lehmann.
The 2nd Congressional District covers all of Nevada except urban areas of Clark County. The seat was vacated when Dean Heller, R-Nev., filled the state's U.S. Senate seat after John Ensign resigned amid ethics investigations following his affair with a campaign aide. The winner of this election will be in office through 2012.
Polls are closed Sundays and Sept. 5, Labor Day. Sept. 6 is the last day for the Clark County Election Department to receive written mail ballot requests.
The early voting polling places and times are the following:
■ Today: Thunderbird Plaza in North Las Vegas, 3603 N. Las Vegas Blvd.,
9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
■ Monday-Wednesday: Clark County Election Center, 965 Trade Drive, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Deuce 2 Building in Mesquite, 150 N. Yucca St., 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
■ Thursday-Friday : Clark County Election Center, 965 Trade Drive, 8 a.m. to
5 p.m. and Sun City Anthem Community Center, 2450 Hampton Road, 8 a.m. to
5 p.m.
■ Sept. 3: Clark County Election Center, 965 Trade Drive, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
■ Sept. 6-7: Clark County Election Center, 965 Trade Drive, 8 a.m. to
5 p.m. and Smith's at Southern Highlands Marketplace, 10600 Southern Highlands Parkway, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
■ Sept. 8-9: Clark County Election Center, 965 Trade Drive, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Solera Anthem, 2401 Somersworth Drive, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
