Patterson recommended as interim Nevada State College chief

Bart Patterson, the higher education system's vice chancellor of administrative and legal affairs, should be the interim president of Nevada State College, the chancellor said Thursday.

The recommendation by Chancellor Dan Klaich is scheduled to be voted on today by the system's Board of Regents.

Patterson called the recommendation an "honor."

"I've worked with Nevada State College for quite a while," he said. "It's really a unique opportunity to be involved in building a college from the ground up."

Patterson joined the system in 2001 after a career as a private attorney. He served as the system's chief counsel before taking his current position in 2009.

If approved, Patterson would replace Lesley Di Mare, who accepted a job as president of a university in Colorado.
