Electrical fire damages Las Vegas home

An electrical fire caused about $100,000 in damage to a home Sunday afternoon, according to the Las Vegas Fire Department.

No one was injured in the blaze.

Firefighters responded to a neighbor's call shortly before 2:30 p.m. When they entered the two-story, single-family house at 11208 Playa Bonita Ave., near Alta Drive and the Las Vegas Byway, they saw the fire in the loft near a computer station. They put it out in 15 minutes but had to tear a hole in the roof to do so. The loft was burned up and upstairs bedrooms were damaged from heat and smoke, according to the department.

As of 5 p.m., officials still hadn't reached the family, which neighbors said numbered six or seven but weren't home.
