Emergency training classes offered in city of Henderson

The city of Henderson's office of emergency management will begin hosting training classes in September for the Community Emergency Response Team.

Classes are offered at no cost to residents who wish to become better prepared to respond to emergency situations in their homes, businesses and neighborhoods.

When emergencies occur, members of the response team can provide critical support to first responders, provide immediate assistance to victims, and organize volunteers at a disaster site.

Training includes disaster preparedness, basic first aid, fire suppression, and light search-and-rescue operations.

Two series of classes will be offered - one on Mondays and one on Wednesdays - over six consecutive weeks. Classes begin on Sept. 10 and Sept. 12 and will meet from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Henderson Training Center, 401 Parkson Road.

Residents may register for either class at www.nvcert.org.
