Female pedestrian killed on U.S. Highway 95

Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash on northbound U.S. Highway 95 near Valley View Boulevard.

A female pedestrian was hit by a pickup truck near the Valley View exit about 7:10 p.m., according to NHP trooper Loy Hixson.

She died at the scene.

Hixson said the woman was approximately 400 feet from the off ramp when she was struck by a black Chevy pickup.

The driver was decelerating when he struck the pedestrian, though it is unknown how fast he was going, according to NHP.

Hixson said the woman was in her late-20s or early 30s. It is still unknown why she was on the freeway.

Valley View Boulevard will be closed for at least two more hours while Highway Patrol investigates.
