Former state worker gets prison term

CARSON CITY -- A former state computer technician has been sentenced to at least 41/2 years in prison for using his state position to harass his ex-wife and purchase computers for personal use.

Carson City District Judge Jim Wilson handed down the sentence Tuesday to 37-year-old Brian Hunt, who pleaded guilty to burglary and theft charges in March.

Investigators said Hunt entered a state building and his ex-wife's home several times last summer to access computer information and phone records, and install spy software on computers.

They said he also bought five computers with state funds, gave four to family members and sold the fifth.

The former Department of Information Technology employee was sentenced to 36 to 100 months for burglary, plus a consecutive term of 18 to 48 months for theft.
