Furniture store manager shot, killed in parking lot

The manager of a furniture store was killed Friday evening after being shot in the store's parking lot, police said.

The manager left Ashley Furniture Homestore, near Cheyenne Avenue and Rainbow Boulevard, at 6:05 p.m. to make a bank deposit when a person in dark clothing and a ski mask shot him, Las Vegas police Lt. Lew Roberts said.

The gunman fled while the manager stumbled back inside the store to get help. Preliminary investigations indicated that no money was taken from the manager, police said.

The manager was taken to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, Roberts said.
