Halloween will be cool, clear for trick-or-treating

It’s time to add layers to your Halloween costumes. The weather leading up to trick-or-treating brought the season’s first temperatures below 50 degrees to Las Vegas.

The National Weather Service recorded 47 degrees at its McCarran International Airport station around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, the coldest official temperature in Las Vegas since March 24, when it was 45 degrees. The last time the temperature was under 50 degrees was April 19.

The forecast for Wednesday in the Las Vegas Valley calls for a high of 65 degrees. The high in Mount Charleston’s Kyle Canyon should reach 47 degrees.

Halloween will see clear skies and slightly higher temperatures, with low winds in the evening.

A freeze watch was issued for Kingman, Ariz. The first freeze of the season was forecast for Wednesday night with a low of 32 degrees. The weather service recommended bringing sensitive plants inside.
