Heavy traffic expected for Obama visit this afternoon
May 26, 2009 - 1:21 pm
Motorists can expect heavy traffic in and around the Strip this afternoon with President Barack Obama’s arrival in Las Vegas.
The president is expected to land about 4:20 p.m. — about 50 minutes sooner than previously planned — at McCarran International Airport. He will then travel via motorcade to Caesars Palace for a fundraiser.
Because of security concerns the Metropolitan Police Department would not release the route the president will take, but spokesman Officer Ramon Denby said the trip should take about 15 minutes.
Motorists should expect a police escort and brief road closures as the motorcade makes it way to the hotel at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road.
