Homeland Security raids house in fake document scheme
February 23, 2013 - 2:10 am
One person was arrested in a house raid at 2009 Walnut Avenue about
12:30 p.m. Friday, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
Agent Michael Harris said the residence was being used as a production site of fraudulent documents, such as high school and college diplomas, driver’s licenses, and residency cards.
The high quality of the documents posed a national threat, Harris said. Agents followed the case for two weeks before obtaining a search warrant and conducting the raid.
By the amount of evidence collected, Harris said the operation had been producing fake documents for a couple of years.
Other individuals are thought to be involved in the operation. The incident remains under investigation by the DHS .
