Two teenagers charged in slayings plead not guilty

Two best friends accused of conspiring and killing one of the friends' parents pleaded not guilty to felony charges Wednesday.

Timothy Chester and Victor Veliz are charged with two counts each of murder with a deadly weapon, and one count each of conspiracy, burglary and robbery with a deadly weapon.

The two 18-year-olds are accused of the Sept. 30 killings of Thomas and Carla Chester.

Thomas Chester suffered two gunshot wounds to the head and his wife suffered from several stab wounds and blunt force trauma, according to court records.

Authorities said Timothy Chester plotted the deaths and Veliz carried out the killings.

A trial date is expected to be set Dec. 9.

41-YEAR-OLD IN CUSTODY

Man wanted in string of robberies is arrested

A man who authorities say robbed a bank in Kingman, Ariz., was apprehended Thursday, about three hours after the robbery. Mohave County Sheriff Tom Sheahan said Victor Malaro, 41, of Golden Valley was taken into custody after he was found in a wash in the downtown area.

Kingman police Sgt. Bob Fisk said Malaro was identified as the man who robbed Mohave State Bank in Kingman about 11:30 a.m. Thursday. Malaro was also wanted in an Oct. 16 bank robbery in Golden Valley, a Nov. 18 bank robbery in Bullhead City and a Nov. 23 robbery of a health food store in downtown Kingman.

Malaro is also considered a possible suspect in a recent botched attempt to rob clothes from a store in Bullhead City and a Nov. 11 armed robbery in Golden Valley that resulted in a convenience store employee being shot in the foot, police said.

Malaro is wanted in Highland, Calif., in an armed robbery-home invasion incident in September, police said. He is also wanted in Mohave County for failing to appear for court hearings related to his Aug. 8 arrest in Golden Valley on weapons and drug charges.

Motorcycle club members arrested in June incident

After six Hells Angels and Desert Road Runner motorcycle club members were arrested in northern Arizona on Wednesday morning, the seventh suspect wanted in a June 11 attack on two Vagos club members in Bullhead City was taken into custody Wednesday night in southern Arizona.

Like the others, George "Joby" Walters, 53, was booked into jail on a rioting charge.

"DPS Southern GIITEM (gang task force) Detectives spotted him (Walters) riding in Douglas and placed him into custody without incident," said Department of Public Safety spokesman officer Robert Bailey.

Additional charges are expected to be filed against some of the suspects based on evidence seized during the arrests in Bullhead City, Kingman, Golden Valley, Camp Verde, Chino Valley, Rimrock and Douglas.
