Men held in slaying of their brother-in-law

Las Vegas police arrested two brothers this week in the Jan. 9 slaying of their brother-in-law.

Ronnie Brass, 28, and Jermaine Brass, 24, were arrested and held without bail Monday on charges of murder with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit murder.

According to their arrest reports, they shot 39-year-old Ernest Mitchell while he was standing in the doorway of his house, at 5504 Reiter Ave., near Smoke Ranch Road and Jones Boulevard, about 7 p.m.

Mitchell's wife, Katrina Brass, told police Mitchell blamed her brothers for burglarizing his home the day before, according to the arrest report. Some tires and rims were stolen.

Her brothers arrived at his house to confront Mitchell over the accusation on Jan. 9, and while Mitchell was arguing with Ronnie Brass in the doorway, Jermaine Brass rounded a corner and shot Mitchell, the report said.
