Dog killed after attack on 20-month-old girl
A dog that attacked and severely injured a toddler in San Jose, Calif., was euthanized as authorities revealed that the 70-pound animal had been identified as potentially dangerous a year ago when it bit a man.
The 20-month-old girl, Anna Leigh Cinco, had the flesh on her lip and chin ripped off to the bone by the dog, an unneutered boxer-pit bull mix named Tazz, said San Jose fire captain Barry Stallard.
The girl underwent reconstructive surgery Monday to repair her face, he said.

Single bullet kills two at New Year's party
A single bullet that might have been fired in celebration of the new year ripped through the wall of a house in Denver early Tuesday, killing an 11-year-old girl and a woman who were attending a party inside, investigators said.
"It might have been an accident, which still would be illegal if someone was firing a weapon recklessly in the city," Police Chief Gerry Whitman said.
Investigators believe the weapon was a high-powered rifle, Whitman said.
The shot was fired about 12:20 a.m., and the shooter might have been a reveler celebrating the new year, police spokesman Sonny Jackson said.
