HENDERSON SLAYING

Police identify man shot, killed after fight

Henderson police have identified a man shot early Saturday after a fight with another man outside a house party near Wigwam Parkway and Pecos Road.

Josh Cole Embler, 22, was found dead in the street after 1 a.m. in front of 78 Megan Drive. Police said the party-goers fled after the shooting.

Police received no noise complaints or other phone calls reporting aggressive behavior before the shooting, police said. No arrests had been made in the slaying.

LAKE MOHAVE FATALITY

Dead diver was Ohio construction worker

A man whose body was found Saturday afternoon by recreational divers at Lake Mohave has been identified as 37-year-old Larry Dwayne Tyree of Tiffin, Ohio.

Tyree disappeared the night before while cliff diving with friends just north of Lake Mohave's Placer Cove, 40 miles southeast of Las Vegas.

His body was found submerged in about 15 feet of water in the same area by a scuba-diving couple, Las Vegas police homicide Sgt. Rocky Alby said. "We have every reason to believe it was an accident. We don't suspect foul play," he said.

Tyree moved to Las Vegas about three months ago to work construction.

FRIDAY COLLISION

Officials announce ID of driver killed in crash

Authorities identified Jill Beth Metz, 33, of Henderson, as the woman killed in a two-vehicle collision at Sandhill and Post roads, near Sunset and Pecos roads, about 5:35 p.m. Friday.

Metz was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu west on Post when she failed to stop at a stop sign, crashing into a 2002 Suzuki Aerio driven by Robert Raines, 47 of Las Vegas, Las Vegas police said. Raines was heading north on Sandhill.

Police Sgt. Tracy McDonald said there was no indication Metz slowed down or tried to stop at the traffic sign, and he believes glare from the sun might have inhibited her vision. Officials were waiting for reports on Metz's speed and toxicology test results.
