IPhone on Verizon? Hold the phone!

Another month, another round of rumors about the Apple iPhone coming to Verizon Wireless. This time it's The Wall Street Journal making the claim, and the paper is sticking by its unnamed sources.

Here's the initial story:

A follow-up story on the Digits blog:
After the Verizon iPhone, what’s next?

But, wait. Verizon President and Chief Operating Officer Lowell McAdam refused to confirm the rumors earlier this week during an appearance at the CTIA Wireless conference in San Francisco. He said the rumors "roll out every few weeks." He added that Apple would be the one to make such an announcement.

I'm pretty confident my friends in the Verizon public relations department will tell me the minute any Verizon-Apple deal is struck. I'm also pretty sure The Wall Street Journal wouldn't report the rumors if it lacked confidence in its sources.

I'm also pretty sure nobody from Apple will be leaving a Verizon iPhone lying on a bar stool in the months ahead. So, I guess we'll have to wait for the official announcements before folks defect from AT&T to Verizon for their next iPhone experience.

I know there will be a lot of happy Verizon customers who have remained loyal to the provider, patiently awaiting the iPhone’s arrival.

I can't wait to test the Verizon iPhone. There’s a ton of rumors floating online about Verizon launching its iPhone on a new Long Term Evolution (LTE) 4G network. I'll let you know when it's official.

Hold the phone, for now, anyway.
