Kingman man gets life term, says ‘I wouldn’t change a thing’
KINGMAN, Ariz. — A natural life prison term was imposed Thursday for a man who killed and dismembered a temporary house guest in Kingman in November 2011.
George Loader, 37, was convicted of first-degree murder in the shooting death of John Oppenheim, 51.
“I wouldn’t change a thing,” Loader told family members as he was led from the courtroom after the sentencing hearing.
Loader’s defense was that Oppenheim was shot by accident when they struggled for control of a weapon during a fight over Loader’s belief that Oppenheim had molested his 3-year-old daughter.
Loader was also convicted of misconduct involving weapons and abandonment of a body for dismembering Oppenheim and burning his remains in the desert.
Mohave County Superior Court Judge Steve Conn stacked 28 more years of prison time on top of the natural life sentence for the secondary convictions.
