KOA tries to sell “new travel trend”

It's "Raising Arizona" in Las Vegas with just a twist of recession marketing.
That's about the only way to interpret an attempt to sell bunking in an Airstream travel trailer in a parking lot behind Circus-Circus as a "new travel trend."
Airstream Trailers and Kampgrounds of America, better known as KOA, better known as the people who think "Family Circus" characters make good mascots, unveiled the idea on Wednesday.
According to an e-mail from a publicist, "families and outdoor enthusiasts alike are looking for a hip, fun experience without the price tag of Las Vegas' ultra luxury hotels."
The national Airstream program kicks off in Las Vegas Jan. 22. Trailers will rent for $110 per night.
If KOA is lucky, none of the value-seeking hipsters will notice that hotel rooms are available that weekend for $150 per night at Caesars Palace, $134 at the Mirage and $114 at Planet Hollywood.

Shacking up in an Airstream in Las Vegas hasn't looked this glamourous since "Swingers."
Still, it will probably be worth it to peek at the "ultra-luxurious amenities," with which the trailers are said to be outfitted.
