Bicyclist dies after being struck by off-road vehicle near M Resort

One man is dead after an illegal off-road vehicle crashed into him near the M Resort early Sunday morning, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

The crash happened about 1:30 a.m. and involved a Polaris RZR off-road vehicle and a bicyclist. The Polaris, driven by a 28-year-old male, struck the bicyclist in the far right lane of westbound St. Rose Parkway near Interstate 15, according to NHP.

The bicyclist, a 59-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said.

The Polaris overturned after striking the bicyclist and the driver was taken to University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. He is under investigation for DUI, Stuenkel said. The roadways have been reopened.

The Clark County coroner's office will release the identity of the bicyclist once his family has been notified.
