Man, 26, arrested in slaying in North Las Vegas

A man was arrested Friday in connection with Sunday's slaying of a 24-year-old man, North Las Vegas police said.

Police said they booked Cedric Jackson, 26, into the North Las Vegas Detention Center on one count of murder and two counts of conspiracy to commit murder. Police have not ruled out the possibility of additional suspects.

Police found the victim on the 2600 block of Blue Reef Drive, near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Carey Avenue about 3:40 a.m.

He was wounded and unresponsive on a front lawn of a home. When medical personnel arrived, they pronounced him dead.

Police said Jackson and the other man met to fight in order to resolve a verbal altercation. Officers also discovered a second man had been shot. That man, whose name was not released, was hospitalized with an injury not considered life-threatening.

Anybody with information on the shooting is urged to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 385-5555.
