Man confronted over stolen Flamin’ Hot Cheetos tries to set fire to St. Louis gas station, police say

ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis man is accused of trying to burn down a gas station after being confronted for stealing a bag of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.

Authorities say 33-year-old Joshua Lee Crook is charged with first-degree attempted arson along with three misdemeanors. He is jailed on $20,000 cash-only bond.

Police say Crook went into a gas station Sunday and tried to walk out with a bag of the Cheetos. The manager confronted him. Crook allegedly pushed the manager and punched him in the face.

Police say Crook then went outside and threw a gas pump nozzle to the ground, then threw a lit cigarette in the pooling gasoline in a failed attempt to start a fire. There was no damage.
