Man who chained daughter to her bed pleads guilty

Robert Blue followed through with his plea agreement today and admitted causing two of his children to suffer substantial mental harm.

Blue, 53, stood before a hearing master in the basement of the Regional Justice Center and pleaded guilty to a felony count of child abuse and neglect.

The defendant, who is in custody, admitted repeatedly chaining his 15-year-old daughter to her bed "and/or repeatedly withholding food and/or beating" the girl and her 14-year-old brother.

District Judge Valorie Vega is scheduled to sentence Blue on April 14.

The charge carries a prison term in the range of two to 20 years. Probation will be an option only if a psychologist determines that Blue is not a high risk to re-offend.
