Mayo dunk highlights first half

O.J. Mayo took a steal the length of the court and threw down a dunk in the closing seconds of the first half to help give the Grizzlies a 38-30 halftime edge over New Orleans.

The thunderous throwdown brought most of the crowd to its feet. Mayo closed the half with a game-high 12 points, but he committed five turnovers.

Darrell Arthur added 10 points for Memphis. Hilton Armstrong, a contributor on the regular-season roster for the Hornets, has seven points and five rebounds at the break. Dalron Johnson has yet to see action.

In the stands, amongst a large collection of scouts, general managers and fans, sit the past and future of UNLV centers side by side. Gaston Essengue and Beas Hamga are taking in the action together four rows up near center court.
