Meals for homeless planned

Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada will serve a traditional Christmas dinner to Las Vegas Valley's homeless and needy on Thursday.

The agency expects to serve 2,500 meals between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Christmas Day at its campus at 1501 Las Vegas Blvd. North at Owens Avenue. More than 100 volunteers will be on hand to serve the meals. Anyone who would like to attend is welcome.

The owner of Super Mex Restaurant and Cantina and his family also will be serving 1,000 burritos to the homeless at 2:45 p.m. today at the Salvation Army, 35 W. Owens Ave. They also will hand out burritos to clients enrolled in the organization's drug and rehabilitation program at 11:45 a.m.
