Meetings set on future of test site

A series of public meetings will begin Thursday to identify issues, alternatives and potential impacts for continued operation of the Nevada Test Site and its off-site locations.

Sponsored by the National Nuclear Security Administration's Nevada Site Office, the first meetings to develop a site-wide impact statement will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Desert Research Institute's Rogers Science and Technology Building, 755 E. Flamingo Road.

Other meetings are set for Sept. 14 at the Ruud Community Center in Pahrump; Sept. 16 at the Tonopah Convention Center; and Sept. 18 at the Holiday Inn Conference Center in St. George, Utah. Those meetings will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
