Surprise reunion brings smiles, tears — VIDEO

A year after he deployed to the Middle East, Airman Jason Driscoll was reunited with his family on Friday night — much to his daughter’s surprise.

Sierra Driscoll, 7, had no idea what was in store when she and her mother, Brianna Driscoll, went to the Second Annual Daddy Daughter Dance at Sante Fe Station.

When she spotted her dad across the room, she ran to him.

About 650 fathers and daughters were treated to a special night, sponsored by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10047 and Santa Fe Station.

“This is a great community event for our military families,” said Tony Marshall, VFW 10047 post commander. “It’s a special evening for these brave and hard working men to spend quality time with their daughters and it reinforces the father-daughter bond. So often these Fathers miss holidays, birthdays and other special occasions due to their military service. This event provides time for these dads and daughters to reconnect.”
