Moderate earthquake near Gabbs; magnitude 3.9

GABBS — A moderate earthquake shook a largely unpopulated part of west central Nevada overnight about 125 miles southeast of Reno.

The Nevada Seismological Laboratory said the magnitude 3.9 quake was reported at 4:04 a.m. Thursday with a depth of nearly 4 miles. The epicenter was about 18 miles northwest of Gabbs. It was followed by small aftershocks of 1.4 and 1.6

No damage has been reported.

Gabbs is about 330 miles northwest of Las Vegas.
