More housing construction approved at Lake Tahoe

STATELINE — The construction of 86 new homes will be allowed at Lake Tahoe this year under action taken by regulators.

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency’s governing board on Wednesday approved this year’s distribution of residential allocations allowed under its updated regional plan.

Agency officials say the residential allocations in Nevada were set at six for Douglas County and 16 for Washoe County. In California they were set at 32 for El Dorado County, 13 for South Lake Tahoe and 19 for Placer County.

For 2013, the allowable number of residential allocations ranged from 34 to 130. The 2,600 residential allocations for the entire Tahoe Basin are being released over a 20-year period.
