3 injured in Mississippi single-engine plane crash

PRENTISS, Miss. — Three people have been injured after their single-engine plane crash-landed Saturday afternoon in a field in Jefferson Davis County.

WDAM-TV reports that a man, woman and child who haven’t been identified were taken by private vehicle to Covington County Hospital in Collins with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash happened on Thurman Road on the eastern edge of Jefferson Davis County. A witness who was driving a tractor on the property says the plane came in low over a tree line, bounced once when it hit the ground, lost a wheel and came to a stop upright. At least one wing collapsed on impact.

The pilot told authorities he was having engine problems before the crash.

Authorities say federal investigators are on their way to the scene.
