4 dead, 14 injured in fiery Maryland crash

 Four people died and 14 others were injured in a fiery three-vehicle crash in a Maryland suburb of Washington, D.C., Sunday evening authorities said.

One of the vehicles caught fire after the collision in Hyattsville, Maryland. One child was among those who died at the scene, and another six children and eight adults were injured, Prince George's County Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady said on Twitter.

Four children and four adults were critically injured, he said.

"I am on location in 2100 block of Chillum Road in Hyattsville of a horrific crash involving a passenger van," Brady said on Twitter. "Multiple fatalities and injured."

Fire Chief Marc Bashoor said on Twitter that more than 60 fire-fighting units from Prince's George County and nearby Montgomery County were on the scene Sunday night.

"Accidents like Chillum Road are difficult for everyone," Bashoor said on Twitter. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the injured and deceased."
