Authorities seek identity of man found dead on mountain near Lake Havasu City

The death of a man whose remains were recovered in a dangerous search-and-rescue mission in northwest Arizona over the weekend is under investigation by police in Lake Havasu City.

Police Lt. Tom Gray said the death is not considered suspicious, though it was not immediately clear how the unidentified victim died in an area north of SARA Park.

Mohave County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Trish Carter said county search and rescue personnel helped recover the remains after hikers saw a leg protruding from a small ledge on the side of a mountain face on Sunday.

Carter said a helicopter and rope were required to retrieve the remains, which were transported to the medical examiner’s office to seek the man’s identity and cause of death.
