Eric Garner’s stepdad: ‘They killed my son’

Staten Island, NY — The stepfather of Eric Garner broke down while discussing a grand jury’s decision to not indict NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo in Garner’s chokehold death.

When asked by PIX11’s Mario Diaz about his reaction to the grand jury’s decision, Ben Carr told WPIX through tears, “They ain’t doing nothing about it. They killed my son.”

“This son of a b**** is walking home, and going home with his family. That ain’t worth a damn to me,” Carr said as he drove off from the scene where Garner died July 17.

Before the decision, Garner’s mother Gwen Carr called for calm from the public, regardless of the outcome.

“I wouldn’t want them to tear up the town but you know that has to stop … they cant go on killing our sons, our fathers, our brothers of color and getting away with it,” she said.
